So I've been wanting to make an animal character to represent my "real" self, seeing as Malicia is pretty much the only anthro I have that most people know me by, and we're nothing alike, nor do I identify myself with her in any way.
I consulted some of my friends about what kind of animal I remind them of, and the general consensus was "Platypus". Why? Who knows, but coincidentally I scored platypus on some sort of quiz on Facebook, so... whatevs. Here's Angie the Platypus. Or The Angipus? Platypangie?
Ref'd myself from that photo of me with the akita pup. Drew and CGed this pretty fast and messy because I was just experimenting with designs and all that stuff.
I like the idea of a platypus anthro! You've handled it well. I do like how you rounded out the cheeks in your portrait [link] of this character. Makes her feel a little more fluid.
I also like her hair down more than up. The up do reminds me of Morrigann. But it's your fursona.
My only critique is the tail. And again, your drawing, your fursona, your call but, I always thought that a platypus' tail was flat and more beaver-like in shape and texture.
Odds are you already know all this and as you said this was a quickie.
I love the beak and I like the uniqueness of it all, you don't see to many platypus walking around on DA.
Yeah, it's supposed to be flat but I messed up the angle, since it's kind of behind her and off to the side. But yes, it's definitely beaver-like and I hope to maintain that better when I draw a full-body pic of her next time.
Funny thing about the hair: I actually based Morrigan's hair style on mine, which is why the similarities are there But I like to wear my hair both up and down (unlike Mo) so I have more freedom in the depictions.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
